Willow Spring, NC
About Willow Spring
Willow Spring is a rural community in southern Wake County, between Garner and Fuquay-Varina, with part of it reaching into Johnston County. It was settled around 1800, takes its name from the willow trees that once grew near its spring, and has had its own post office since 1899. Two historic farmhouses here are on the National Register.
The appeal is room to breathe: farmland, woods and creeks (Black Creek, part of the Neuse River basin, runs through the area), with larger lots and newer neighborhoods mixed in, and Garner, Fuquay-Varina and Raleigh within an easy drive.
Willow Spring isn't a town and has no town government. Wake County handles zoning, planning and permits for most of it, and residents vote in Wake County Board of Commissioners elections rather than for a town council. Wake County property records list about 5,600 properties with a Willow Spring address; a few hundred near its edges sit inside Fuquay-Varina or Angier town limits and pay that town's tax as well.
Property tax in Willow Spring
Willow Spring has no town tax. Most addresses pay the Wake County rate plus the Wake County Fire Tax District: $0.6596 per $100 of tax value, about $2,638 a year on a $400,000 tax value. Addresses inside a nearby town's limits also pay that town's rate. Sources.
