About
About RDU Recorder
RDU Recorder puts the Triangle's public records in one place, in plain English: what's being built and rezoned, road and city projects, property tax rates, town and county budgets, and what happened at town hall. It covers Wake, Durham and Chatham counties and the towns in them.
Where the information comes from
- Development plans, rezonings and city projects: each town's and county's own planning and project records.
- Road projects: NCDOT.
- Tax rates and budgets: the counties' tax offices and each government's adopted budget, with the page number.
- Town hall: the official agendas, minutes and meeting videos.
Every fact links to the official record it came from. If a record and this site disagree, the record is right.
How the summaries are written
Short summaries of projects and meetings are written by an AI model that runs on our own computer, then checked automatically: every number in a summary must appear in the official record, meeting summaries may name only people the record names, and the wording is checked for neutral, fair-housing-compliant language. Each meeting shows what the checks stopped or flagged, and why. Nothing is edited by hand to change what the record says.
What this site is not
RDU Recorder is not a real estate brokerage, and nothing here is legal, tax or financial advice.
