About Siler City
Siler City, in western Chatham County, is a railroad and farm town with an artistic side. The North Carolina Arts Incubator fills several historic downtown buildings with working studios for potters, glass artists, fiber artists and painters, and the monthly Third Friday art walk and a series of large murals bring people downtown.
The town also has a small claim to television history: Frances Bavier, Aunt Bee on The Andy Griffith Show, spent her last years in Siler City and is buried here.
The town runs several parks, gyms, a community center and a public pool, and Chatham County's Northwest District Park is nearby. Rolling farmland surrounds the town, and Jordan Lake, the Haw River and the Triangle's cities are within an easy drive.
